Hello you! Just for fun today while I'm catching u Hello you! Just for fun today while I'm catching up on being back in the office, five random facts you (probably) didn’t know about me…

1. I collect lego minifigures 🙈 We have a minifigure lego wall in our living room (I have NO idea where it's going to go when we move..!) and we've built up quite the collection. I even have one of the rarest minifigures ever made.

2. Growing up I wanted to be a lawyer but then I decided to pursue Interior Architecture / Design. I happened to land on brand and web design during a side hustle while studying Interior Design at University. I still have a passion for interiors and architecture but only for myself. If I wasn't doing this, I'd be a florist or a horticulturist.

3. My dream car is a Ferrari 458 Spider for it's timeless and elegant design 🏎️

4. My biggest pet peeves are hearing someone chew, and someone being late. 😣

5. If I could have dinner with 5 people from the past / present they'd be: Lady Gaga, Ada Lovelace, Winston Churchill, Freddie Mercury and Harry Houdini.

🤫 I'll let you into a little secret, moodboardi 🤫 I'll let you into a little secret, moodboarding is my favourite part of the whole brand process 😱

After a brand clarity session where we look at the strategic foundational blocks we jump into the creative direction. This is where I can really visualise what you like and dislike, and it concretes what we've already discovered in the clarity session. The saying is true, a picture really does paint a 1000 words. The images become the foundation of the visual system to represent your brand and it's great for those business owners who are more creative and struggle to put their vision into words.

The Oohlala Studio process is completely collaborative; I want you to be there every step of the way – it’s your business after all. 👩🏽‍💻

If you head over to the blog, you'll find an article about how Oohlala Studio is the third iteration of a business and you'll find out what finally clicked after the first two failures.

Really knowing your client, understanding how to talk to them and how to position yourself is key for business growth. In the last 3 years I’ve worked with over 120 female entrepreneurs, taking the chaos out of brand and website building. Learning from the past versions of my business and really honing in on the brand foundations has put me in good stead for the future years ahead. I'm in this for the long haul!

I look back on my business failures and iterations with fondness at what they taught me, how they shaped me and my business and the foundations they put in place to allow Oohlala to be as successful as it is today.

I have put together a free brand roadmap for you that will take you through some of the key stages of my signature framework.

This is the same route that I take my clients through when they work with me to build a stand out brand (and the route I’ve used myself in version 3 of my business)!

Follow the steps in the roadmap to help you on your way to transforming your business into a solid brand. 💙

Today I wanted to share 3 questions that appear on Today I wanted to share 3 questions that appear on my brand session questionnaire. These questions help me dive deeper into the soul of your business.

It may not surprise you that it’s not just one thing makes a brand great. A great brand is a combination of a lot of things and surprisingly over 90% of people will get this process wrong. The ones who will most likely fail, will have no thought on their brand strategy and will in turn barely leave the running blocks.

A brand strategy combines SO many things, including your objectives, your audience and your USP all together to give you complete clarity on why, who and what you do. This brand strategy process is what makes a really strong brand.

What's in a name? Well, quite a lot actual What's in a name?

Well, quite a lot actually. It's one of the first interactions a client or customer will have with you and we all know first impressions count.

I often get asked how I chose the name Oohlala Studio™

Well, it began with defining my target audience and getting really clear on my brand foundations and what I wanted to achieve. From there I spent a couple of weeks penning random words into a notebook.

During tiny H’s bath time one evening I sat on the floor with my notebook chatting with hubby while he bathed him, looking at the list to see if anything came up. It was in that moment that Oohlala stood out and presented itself as the perfect word. It filled me with excitement, it had the complete opposite effect to my husband. He immediately said that he didn't like it - but you know what; that was perfect. He wasn't my target audience and I fully embraced it and ran with it.

I love the way the letters all sit together. No descenders in the form and the double O makes me happy 😂🙈

From there I checked out domains; social handles and did some research to make sure no one else had similar and then I went “live” with it so to speak.

I never thought until recently that this little business could expand and turn into something bigger but I’ve recently had confirmation that we are TRADEMARKED! 💙

A massive thank you to the gorgeous team @babsjamiesonlawyer for making me and my biz legal. It got to a point where if someone stole my business name I probably would have cried on repeat for days 😭

How did you go about choosing your business/brand name?

Don't quit - do it!

Did you have a good weekend?

I'm sat in the office at the moment currently surrounded by boxes as we're starting to pack up our stuff for our house move.

The thought of physically moving everything we own makes me feel dizzy. This is my first proper house move, before it was just bedroom to bedroom to bedroom 😅

Any tips please let me know!

I'm over the moon with my new set of images by @emmajacksonphotographer from our shoot in the blossom trees last week!

Brand photography is SUCH an important element in the visual system of a brand.

Having the right photos to portray your brand without you having to say a single word is invaluable.

When embarking on a brand photoshoot you need to know exactly what you want to portray and get out of the images. You need to know how you'll use them, you also need to consider poses, props and locations, these all help to paint the picture of what your business is about.

But before all of that you have to consider who you're talking to with your brand, what do they want to know about and hear from you, what messages will make a connection and resonate with them? The visuals of a brand are there to reinforce and build upon the strategy you've created.

From there you can get to work on choosing your brand photographer and planning out your shoot.

Imagine the audience I wanted to attract was that of Harley Davidson, these gorgeous, airy and brightly coloured photos that Emma consistently creates for Oohlala Studio wouldn't resonate with them at all, their reptilian brain would automatically engage to filter this image and marketing message out (without them even noticing) to conserve energy because it bears no attraction to them and what they're looking for.

Something for you to bear in mind when choosing how to visually portray your business!
